Showcasing Undiscovered Football Talent: 2025 College Gridiron Showcase

Each year, the heart of Texas transforms into a proving ground for aspiring professional football players from less-celebrated programs at the College Gridiron Showcase in Fort Worth. The event offers these athletes a chance to display their talents in front of scouts not just from the NFL, but from leagues around the world, providing an essential stepping stone for many seeking to advance to the next level.

A Week of Intense Showcasing

The Showcase spans an entire week, rich with position-specific drills and culminating in a controlled scrimmage. This year’s event saw representation from all 32 NFL teams, nine CFL teams, eight UFL teams, and many more, including the European League of Football and several Arena/Indoor leagues. Such extensive representation underscores the event's significance as a talent evaluation platform.

Leading this showcase are Jose Jefferson, Craig Redd, and Mike Rittlemann, individuals whose expertise shapes the program into a cornerstone for undiscovered talent.

Quarterbacks in the Spotlight

This year, two quarterbacks emerged prominently: Taylor Elgersma and Tyler Huff. Wilfrid Laurier’s Taylor Elgersma dazzled observers with his exceptional arm strength. One scout noted, "The level of velocity in which he threw the ball was next level," signaling Elgersma as a prime prospect to watch. Complementing Elgersma’s performance, Jacksonville State’s Tyler Huff demonstrated a skill set that left an impression on attending scouts.

Running Backs and Wide Receivers Rise to the Occasion

Adding to the offensive prowess, Ahmani Marshall from Appalachian State left spectators in awe with his dynamic play. His performance spurred one observer to remark, "I've never seen anything like that before at an all-star game/event," highlighting the extraordinary nature of his showing.

In the realm of wide receivers, Zakhari Franklin from Illinois and Coleman Owen from Ohio captured attention. Franklin stood out with his athleticism, while Owen was praised for his consistency, marking them as pivotal figures within their peer group.

Noteworthy Performances Along the Line

On the line of scrimmage, both offense and defense showcased formidable talents. Mason Miller from North Dakota State commanded respect with his efforts as an offensive tackle, while Marlon Martinez from Mississippi State shone as a guard. Tyler Elsbury of Iowa further reinforced the offensive line with his noteworthy performance.

Defensively, Brian Ugwu from Miami (OH) distinguished himself as a defensive end and edge rusher. Meanwhile, Adin Huntington from Tulane provided an effective presence as a defensive tackle.

Defensive Standouts

Keon Freeman’s athleticism at linebacker, representing Robert Morris, did not go unnoticed. Devin Veresuk of Windsor also made a strong case for himself in the same position. Further into the secondary, Cam Sims from East Tennessee State excelled at cornerback, while Kenny Gallop from Howard displayed significant potential as a versatile slot defender.
