So then, after consulting with a few doctors, I knew that I needed to have surgery at some point," he explains. With the playoff season behind him, Åberg opted for surgery, recognizing the necessity of addressing his injury to protect his long-term career.
The post-surgical period presented a new set of challenges for Åberg. It was a break from golf, "probably the first break that I've had from golf since my senior year in college," he notes. During this time, Åberg took the opportunity to reflect and recuperate, setting the groundwork for his eventual return. He began his rehabilitation by hitting short pitches and wedges, gradually acclimating his knee to the demands of competitive play.
Åberg's absence from the greens also underscored his excellent previous performances. Last season at the RSM Classic, he tied the all-time scoring record, ending the tournament at an astonishing 29 under par. Such achievements underscore the caliber of player he is, making his return eagerly anticipated by both fans and peers.
Now, as he prepares to swing back into action at the RSM Classic, Åberg feels ready. "I feel 100%, otherwise I wouldn't be here," he affirms confidently.
